Special Friday Presentation
Tribute to the September 11 Canine Heroes.
Friday evening will feature a special tribute to the September 11 canine heroes
with search and rescue demonstrations, showing how these canine units
have assisted first responders in disaster relief and recovery efforts.
World of Dogs Program
This program is designed to educate and entertain attendees about
the wonderfulworld of dogs and to introduce the many things that you can do with your dog. There will be obedience demonstrations, agility , frisbee, flyball, , training demonstrations, dog tricks, muscial freestyle and much more! Demonstrations by Doggie U., Long Island Road Rage, Dragonfireagility, Elite Animal Trainers of Amercia, & Long Island Search & Rescue.
Flyball Demonstrations by Long Island Road Rage - Teamwork, speed and precision is the name of the game in the sport of Flyball. The fastest growing dog sport in the world. Flyball is a four-dog relay race between competing teams. The flyball course covers 51 feet in length and consists of four hurdles leading to the Flyball box. Each dog must jump the four hurdles, retrieve a ball from the box, and return over the hurdles and cross the finish line. Each dog must be highly trained to work on a team with three to five other dogs and be highly focused. Flyball is open to all dogs, mixed or pure bred.

New York’s Dog Whisperer
Jeff Kolbjornsen, the New York Dog Whisperer will be the guest seminar speaker at the Long Island Pet Expo. Jeff has been working with dogs since 1975 and has earned the title as the New York Dog Whisperer because of his successful rehabilitation of difficult and misunderstood dogs. He has saved hundreds of these dogs by reprogramming their negative behavior. His programs help the dogs and their owners communicate and understand each other. Joel Silverman from Animal Planets Good Dog U will be at the Long Island Pe t Expo all weekend. Joel was named the 2008 Dog Trainer of the Year . He and his dog Foster will perform each day in the Dog Arena demonstrating how he trains animals for movies and commercials. A few lucky audience members will get the opportunity to work with Joel and Foster in the demonstrations! HELPING PAW-Helping Promote Animal Welfare has been created to provide low cost spay and neuter service for cats and dogs on Long Island and surrounds.
Helping PAW is a non-for-profit that will help alleviate the financial strain for being a responsible pet owner and will provide low costs and funds for pet owners on government assistance.
HELPING PAW will be at the Long Island Pet Expo all weekend and on Saturday will be offer their spay and neuter service. This is available by appointment only as appointments are limited and you must contact Helping PAW at 888-PET-FIX (738-3497) to schedule the appointment. www.helong-paw.org

Birds of Prey Program
The Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons will be joining us at the Long Island Pet Expo.
They will be doing an exciting and educational program on Birds of Prey on Saturday and Sunday. 
Birds of Prey or Raptors, are some of the most fascinating and misunderstood animals.
They are not only efficient predators, but also a valuable part of the web of life which affects us all.
One hour demonstration with live hawks including a Red tailed Hawk, a Great Horned Owl and more.
The
Long Island Pot-Bellied Pig Association - Learn about
pot-bellied pigs. See trick performances by the pigs and take
a photo with a pig! Members will be on hand to give out educational
information on pigs as pets, plus adoption materials.
The Myotonic Goat Registry/Little Fall Farms- “Fainting Goats”

These goats “faint” because of a condition called Myotonia which causes the goat to lock its hind quarters and fall over when startled or excited. When excited they try to run off, the hind end locks up and when the front legs continue to pull forward, they just fall over. They do not loose consciousness, and the “fainting” does not cause any damage to the goat. Don’t miss seeing these goats at the Long Island Pet Expo.
The Parrot Fanciers Club – Is
dedicated to the ethical treatment
of psittacines in
captivityas well as to their preservation
in the wild. Their purpose is to provide information andassistance
to all parrot owners regarding proper nutrition, handling and
routine maintenance of psittacines. Members and their birds will
be there all weekend for attendees to see and get information
on care and adoptions
Attention
all Kids: Ronald McDonald – Will be at the Long
Island Pet Expo. To meet and greet attendees and perform a
magic show on Sat. 11:30 pm – 1:30 pm. Long Island McDonalds
is a participating sponsor of the Long Island Pet Expo.
Pet Safe Coalition-“Leave No Animal Behind”- What would you do if you were told to evacuate right now and you could not take your pet to a people shelter?
Pet Safe Coalition is an all volunteer, not for profit corporation whose mission is to instruct pet owners about keeping pets and their families safe when disaster strikes. Their slogan- “Leave no animal behind” is intended to convey the message that the only way to assure that your family, including your pets, survive an emergency is to make your plans well before you have to put them in practice and they will show you how!

NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE
-LITTLE LEARNERS
If you have a puppy or are thinking of getting a puppy, you do
not want to miss the informative program put on by the North
Shore Animal League. Trainers from the North Shore Animal League
will cover the important aspects of training your puppy including
the importance of crate training, housebreaking, appropriate
play and toys, importance of socialization and basic obedience
including training devices and introduction to veterinary and
grooming equipment.
The Priceless Parrot Preserve-
The Priceless Parrot Preserve is a non-profit organization established by Gene and Marietta Avery.
It is the frst and only one in New York State that provides permanent care for abused, unwanted
and mistreated exotic birds. They will have some of their beautiful birds at the expo- be sure to stop at their booth to talk to them and have your picture taken with one of these exotic birds!
