Ed Jakubowshi and the Discdogs A2Z
See the high flying sport of K9 disc as Ed and his dogs perform in the dog ring
this weekend!
Competing in the sport since 1978 Ed Jakubowski is the only competitor
to have taken 4 different dogs to the World Finals Competition and has set world
records in the sport
with his dog Dasher.
He has competed in the Purina Dog Challenge and ESPN's Great Outdoor Games as well as appearing on Wide World of Sports, Animal Planet, Discover Channel and other local and national television programs. After 30 years in the sport of K-9 Disc, he is now continuing on in DiscDogs A2Z offering shows and demos.
Demonstrations
in the Dog Arena
Dog training demonstrations will be
held throughout the weekend in the dog arena by New York’s Dog Whisperer,
Jeff Kolbjornsen and his EliteAnimal trainers. Demonstrations
include fundamental obedience training, freestyle (off-leash) training,
and demonstrations with Police K-9/Protection Dogs and Detection Dogs.
In addition “Doggone Good Lessons” will be provided to instruct
children on dog safety . Other fun filled shows include: Parade of Rescue
Dogs, The Doggie Dating Game, The Wedding and Guess the Dog’s
Age. Jeff and his Elite trainers will be at their booth all weekend to

Meet
New York’s Dog Whisperer in the Dog Arena –Jeff
Kolbjornsen has earned his reputed title as the New York Dog Whisperer
because of his successful work with difficult and misunderstood dogs. He
has single handedly saved hundreds of these types of dogs by reprogramming
their negative behavior patterns. Jeff also advocates for dogs in need
and is often called upon to serve as an expert witness for The Dangerous
Dog Law throughout New York. Jeff will be hosting this year’s

Rainforest
Reptile Shows - Michael and Joaney Ralbovsky, founders and owners
of Rainforest Reptiles are committed to educating the public about the
natural world to improve the quality of our lives. Since 1993 Rainforest
Reptiles has conducted educational interactive programs to teach respect
for and educate people of all ages about animals and the importance of
preserving the rainforests. Identified by Educate America as a valued
educational and entertainment program for children. Their shows are fun,
informative and educational and you will have a chance to get up close
to snakes, turtles, lizards, alligator and more! Rainforest Reptile Sh
ows newest addition is their innovative and fun mobile unit. First shown at last years LI Pet Expo, the mobile unit gives the capability to teach an understanding of the natural world through various habitat and animal displays.

The International Cat Association
Cat Show-(Sat & Sun) Hosted by The Gold Coast Feline Fanciers
Association, a Long Island based club, a TICA sanctioned cat show will
be held at the LI Pet Expo. See the usual and not so usual breeds of cats

Karen Kober Animal Communication -
This amazing experience of animal communication seminar is with Karen Kober,
world known expert and professional. Using mental telepathy Karen is able
to converse with all species - alive or deceased. This discussion
will provide insight and validation as to the experiences of animal communication.
Discussion will include who seeks a communicator and why, the benefits of
this shared time between you and your animal friends, and how animal communication
is learned. Karen

The Long Island Pot-Bellied
Pig Association - Learn about pot-bellied pigs. See trick performances
by the pigs and take a photo with a pig! Members will be on hand to give
out educational information on pigs as pets, plus adoption materials.
Alpaca Area – See
the alpacas- the softest, cutest, most cuddly critter that you will see.
You can see colorful gentle alpacas, babies and adults at the Illusion Ranch
Alpaca Area where there will be informative information and hands-on petting
opportunities. You’ll have the opportunity to feel what has been called
the softest fiber in the world-baby alpaca fleece!
The Parrot Fanciers Club – Is
dedicated to the ethical
treatment of psittacines in captivity as well as
to their preservation in the wild. Their purpose is to provide information
andassistance to all parrot owners regarding proper nutrition, handling
and routine maintenance of psittacines. Members and their birds will be
there all weekend for attendees to see and get information on care and adoptions
Attention
all Kids: Ronald McDonald – Will be at the Long Island
Pet Expo. To meet and greet attendees and perform a magic show on Sat.
12 noon – 2 pm. Long Island McDonalds is a participating sponsor
of the Long Island Pet Expo.
Pets With Disabilities- Joyce Darnell, founder of Pets
with Disabilities has recently written a heartwarming book called EXtraordinary
Dogs-a fabulous cololaboration of inspirational stories on dogs with disabilities.
Be sure to check then out at their booth at the show where Joyce will
be signing books all weekend and the infamous Duke will be providing his "pawtagraph" as
well!

Coalition- “Leave no
Animal Behind”
What would you do if you were told to evacuate right now and you
could NOT take your pet to a People Shelter?
Pet Safe Coalition is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit corporation whose
mission is to instruct pet owners about keeping pets & their families
safe when disaster strikes.
Pet Safe Coalition has been designated by the New York State Department
of Agriculture and Markets as the Nassau County Response Team, helping owners
prepare to evacuate with their animals well in advance of an emergency.
Pet Safe’s slogan- “Leave No Animal Behind” – is
intended to convey the message that the only way to assure that your family,
including your pets, survive an emergency is to make your plans well before
you have to put them in practice and they will show you how.
Animal owners, you do not want to miss this important presentation!
Elizabette Cohen DVM - Pet First Aid
Elizabette Cohen DVM, host of “Happy and Healthy Pet” on WCBS Newsradio 880 will be a featured speaker at the Long Island Pet Expo. Dr. Cohen will speak on and demonstrate Pet First Aid. This is something all pet owners need to know. She will answer questions about pet health and safety. Dr. Cohen will also have her new book, Most of My Patients Wear Fur:Tails of Small Animals and Their Big City Vet. This book is a quick and enjoyable read for all pet lovers. It offers practical guidance with anecdotes that will make pet lovers roar!
She will be at the Pet Safe Coalition Booth at the show to discuss with her new book.
NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE
-LITTLE LEARNERS
If you have a puppy or are thinking of getting a puppy, you do not want to miss the informative program put on by the North Shore Animal League.
Trainers from the North Shore Animal League will cover the important aspects of training your puppy including the importance of crate training, housebreaking, appropriate play and toys, importance of socialization and basic obedience including training devices and introduction to veterinary and grooming equipment.
